Get Your Child To Tell You About Her Day

Here’s a way to get your mentees talking. It’s a game called "My Day, Your Day."

Let your mentee ask you a question about your day. After you answer, you get to ask your mentee a question about her day. This helps her to feel involved—not just interrogated.

Be sure to ask questions that require more than just a simple yes or no answer. Specific questions like “What did you learn in math today?” are better than general ones like “How was your day?” Also, set a good example by answering your mentee's questions as thoroughly as you want her to answer yours.
