Mentor Monday: Meet Valerie

Q. Who is your mentee?
A. Mariah, 11 years old

Q. How long have you been a mentor?

A. 6 months

Q. What is the best thing about mentoring?
A. The best thing about mentoring is building a relationship with another person (little person).

Q. What made you become a mentor?
A. I am in the season of life where I have the time to offer.  The wonder and curiosity of a young person is a gift.

Q. Why would you recommend someone become a mentor?
A. Well, we each have our own gifts, qualities. For the me, the best place to share my experiences, and love of life , is to share them with a child.

Q. What was the biggest surprise about mentoring?
A. The biggest surprise to me was that an 11 year old girl, whom I had never met, is so much like me in so many ways.  We even kinda dress the same, which is really quite endearing. when I pick her up we will have the same colors on. (maybe I need a make-over).
