Thrifty Thursday: Learn Local History

You may be surprised to learn how much history there is to see in Hampton Roads - for free! Many young people are unaware of the history of their city.

Schedule some time with your mentee too see some important local sites.  The Moses Myers House is a great local spot to start. It was one of the first brick homes built in Norfolk after the Revolutionary War, during which saw most of the town leveled by British bombardment and subsequent fire. The home contains a remarkable number of furnishings original to the family, including Gilbert Stuart’s companion portraits of Moses Myers and his wife, Eliza, as well as works by Thomas Sully.

And......it's free to visit!
