Fun for the family this Saturday in Portsmouth, VA at all four Portsmouth Museums: The Children's Museum of Virginia, Portsmouth Art & Cultural Center, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Museum and Lightship Portsmouth. 
Celebrate Kids is happening Saturday, June 21, 2014 from 10am-5pm. 
Events at the Children's Museum: 
  • Enjoy a carnival atmosphere for the day. Play games and win prizes, see some animals and have your face painted. 
Events at the Portsmouth Art & Cultural Center:
  • Musician Bob Zentz will bring unique handmade musical instruments created from the Appalachian region, which he will perform and display. Rich Gray will instruct participants in paper airplane designs to test-fly in the courtyard. Families can also decorate pre-baked, iced sugar cookies, using food coloring markers that write in edible ink.
Events at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Museum:
  • Find out what it would be like to enlist in the Civil War era U.S. Navy with the Tidewater Maritime Living History Association, and learn how to board and repel through hands-on demonstrations.
Events at the Lightship Portsmouth:
  • Find out about life aboard this former floating lighthouse for the Coast Guard sailors who served.
